Thanks to two generous grants from the Bass Fishing Hall of Fame and AFTCO, Illinois Bass Nation was able to work with the IDNR and put in a dozen fish cribs this past Saturday. The cribs were put in at Goose Lake, which is part of the Mazonia-Braidwood State Fish and Wildlife area North Unit.

Thank you to Seth Love, fisheries biologist at the IDNR who researched the crib selection and helped in putting them together, deciding where they should go, and getting them in the water. Thank you also to Frank Hyla, Shimano youth fishing coordinator, John Marzurkiewicz, Bass Fishing Hall of Fame board president, and Ed Gad, Illinois Bass Nation youth director, who all showed up and helped to put the cribs together.

We have more cribs to get built and assembled in the spring and I look forward to seeing more of the fishing community then.

It’s important to give back and this is one small step in the right direction. Thank you to everyone who made this possible.
