On May 14th the IBN High School Series took on Lake Springfield and the anglers won. The day started out over cast with a little sprinkle of rain. The clouds left after a few hours and the wind began to blow. With gusts up to 20 mph the angler had to work hard unless they found a cove to themselves.
As usual Lake Springfield did not disappoint anyone. Every boat in the field brought fish to the scale.
As the weigh in went on Ethan Jones and Blake Jones from Father McGivney H S, had the hot seats with 9.22 lbs. They were feeling pretty good and team after team could not top them. Then came Alex Ellerbrock and Noah Clark came to the scale with a good bag. As the scale locked in at 11.58 lbs. the Jones boys had to give up the seats. There were a few anglers left to weigh in but Alex and Noah held on for the win.
At this event 5 teams total qualified for the IBN High School State Championship that will be held at Lake Springfield on June 12th. Those teams are:
Father McGivney – Ethan Jones, Blake Jones
Unity HS – C J Parks and Kyle Curtis
Unity – Cameron Cokley and Jack Brown
Plainfield So. – Mike Bobich and Jack Blumquist
Marion – Wyatt Gabby and Drew Herman
Congratulations to Alex and Noah on their win and all of the anglers for qualifying. Good luck at the State Championship.
